From professional boxing to mentoring youth: Paul Rosado created this small business to change lives
There’s a new gym in town with a unique attitude. All 1 MMA is the brainchild of Paul Rosado, a former international pro boxer and pro kickboxer.
All 1 offers group classes for kids, teens and adults of all genders in boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) training, and self-defense. But the Hyde Park training studio (98 Business St., Unit 2A) offers something more: a home where youth can overcome obstacles together, and forge not only strength but community.
Paul’s road to success was tough. Growing up in Dorchester surrounded by drug violence, he sought role models to imagine a different future for himself. What he lacked on the home front, he found in the gym. There, he formed the discipline, focus and philosophy he needed to succeed in championship fights, paving a different future for himself. After succeeding in his fighting career, Paul he knew he wanted to be for others that mentor that he’d wished he had as a kid.
When Paul he realized he was ready to implement his vision in a new self-run studio, he turned to JPNDC. With the help of the Small Business Services team, Paul he built his business plan step-by-step. All 1 MMA opened its doors on March 4, 2023.
“Here, training has purpose,” Paul says. “Here, through training, you find yourself. I teach everyone that to develop yourself, you’ll face obstacles—and that’s not a negative. That’s growth. And we’ll do it together.”
Paul builds a mentorship relationship with his young champs and creates rules designed to help them empower themselves. “You have to leave any gang if you’re involved,” he Paul says. “What we’re doing here changes lives.” No child is turned away for lack of funds.
All 1 MMA aims to repair connections within families and community, and holds once a month movie-nights with kids and their families. “And if you don’t have a family out there—you have a family in here.”
For other entrepreneurs, Paul’s advice comes from his years growing as a fighter, then teacher, and now business owner: “Surround yourself with people who have the same vision as you, and who are where you see yourself. They will inspire you.”

All 1 ofrece clases grupales para niños, adolescentes y adultos de todos los géneros en boxeo, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, entrenamiento de MMA (Artes Marciales Mixtas) y defensa personal. Pero el negocio de Hyde Park (98 Business St., Unidad 2A) ofrece algo más: un hogar donde los jóvenes pueden superar obstáculos juntos y forjar no solo fuerza sino comunidad.
El camino de Paul hacia el éxito fue duro. Al crecer en Dorchester rodeado por la violencia de las drogas, buscó modelos a seguir para imaginar un futuro diferente para sí mismo. Lo que le faltaba en casa lo encontró en el gimnasio. Allí, formó la disciplina, el enfoque y la filosofía que necesitaba para tener éxito en las peleas de campeonato, pavimentando un futuro diferente para sí mismo. Después de tener éxito en su carrera como luchador, Paul sabía que quería ser para los demás ese mentor que deseaba tener cuando era niño.
Cuando Paul se dio cuenta de que estaba listo para implementar su visión en un nuevo estudio autogestionado, recurrió a JPNDC. Con la ayuda del equipo de Servicios para Pequeños Negocios, Paul construyó su plan de negocios paso a paso. All 1 MMA abrió sus puertas el 4 de marzo de 2023.
“Aquí, el entrenamiento tiene un propósito”, dice Paul. “Aquí, a través del entrenamiento, te encuentras a ti mismo. Les enseño a todos que para desarrollarse, enfrentarán obstáculos, y eso no es negativo. Eso es crecimiento. Y lo haremos juntos”.
Paul construye una relación de tutoría con sus jóvenes campeones y crea reglas diseñadas para ayudarlos a empoderarse. “Tienes que dejar cualquier pandilla si estás involucrado”, dice Paul. “Lo que estamos haciendo aquí cambia vidas”. Ningún niño es rechazado por falta de fondos.
All 1 MMA tiene como objetivo reparar las conexiones dentro de las familias y la comunidad, y realiza noches de cine una vez al mes con los niños y sus familias. “Y si no tienes una familia allá afuera, tienes una familia aquí”.
Para otros emprendedores, el consejo de Paul proviene de sus años de crecimiento como luchador, luego como maestro y ahora como dueño de un negocio: “Rodéate de personas que tengan la misma visión que tú y que estén donde tú te ves. Ellos te inspirarán”.
