Resident Organizer

About Samantha Montaño

Major areas of responsibility: I work with residents of our 14 properties to encourage their empowerment and assist in the development of resident leaders. I also work with a group of youth who live in the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments (formerly Bromley-Heath) to enhance their leadership skills and involvement in the community.

Project I feel proud about: The Bromley Youth Leaders United closed out their year of growth with a mural project on one of the walls of the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments facing Centre Street. It was their project design and a great culmination of their work together. It also is a nice piece of art that they have contributed to Jackson Square.

Relevant background: I was an Anthropology major in college and though I am from LA, I have worked in several Boston neighborhoods and communities.

Year started at JPNDC: 2015

  • What inspires me: People connecting and the energy that comes from the experience of giving back.
  • What I like: Pizza! Ha ha, no, I mean, yes, but also meeting new people and spontaneity.
  • Call me about: Getting involved in the community in whatever capacity that may be.
