About Silja Kallenbach

Committees:

Economic Development, Executive

Current field of work:

I oversee the U.S. programs of World Education, where we help build the capacity of adult basic education and workforce development programs and the immigrants and US-born adults they serve.

JPNDC project I am the most proud of:

I am proud that the JPNDC has built over 600 affordable homes in JP and turned the old brewery into a thriving hub of neighborhood activity.

What inspires me:

People working together across differences for social change, resiliently.  In my native country, Finland, there’s a concept of “sisu” which means being resilient and not giving up even in the face of great odds.

What I like:

JP, where I have lived for over 30 years.
