Top five questions
There are three steps to accessing JPNDC’s small business services:
- Complete our initial assessment form.
- Complete a business basics course.*
- Following the course, sign up for 1:1 coaching to complete your plans, applications, etc.
*Course topics and schedules vary. View our calendar to see upcoming classes.
Below are our eligibility requirements.
- Your business operates or will operate in the city of Boston.
- You have fewer than 20 employees and your business’ average annual revenue is below $500,000 (for contractors, below $800,000).
- Your income falls within HUD guidelines for Low-Income Households (up to 80% Area Median Income)
- You’re committed to working hard with us to improve your business.
We work with people who are thinking of starting a business, new start-ups and those who have been in business a long time.
Workshops, coaching and crisis support are offered free of charge. Occasionally, there is a fee for more detailed technical support such as completing a multi-year business plan. However, all fees are sliding scale, meaning you pay only what you can afford.
Our team tries to be available if your business has a crisis. We can provide support to help you resolve legal, tax, landlord or financing issues. Submit this form if you have an urgent need.
That’s the toughest question of all! A lot of things determine if a small business succeeds. Some of those are in your control and some are not. We can’t guarantee success, but we can promise you this: If you’re committed to your goals and you work with us to gain basic business tools, your chance for success will greatly improve.
